ACADEMIC YEAR APPLICATION PROCESS
Applying for housing at Texas A&M University is done by logging into myHousing Portal using your NetID and password. Don’t have a NetID and password? Visit the Howdy Portal and select Activate Your Account. The Housing Application usually opens in mid-September.
With few exceptions, living on-campus at Texas A&M is choice. On-campus housing closes (move to the Wait List) once we have met our maximum occupancy levels.
Please refer to our Getting Started page for helpful information before starting your online housing application, then follow the steps below.
If you have questions navigating through the portal or you believe there is an error, please contact us at 888.451.3896.
Step 1: Apply for Housing
Go to myHousing Portal to apply for on-campus housing. We suggest that you apply for housing as soon as you are accepted. Please watch the Phase I Video for more information.
Step 2: Provide Your Preferences
In Phase II you will be providing us with information on how you want to live on campus. Phase II will open on the indicated date at the end of Phase I. You will give preferences on the following:
- LLC Preferences (Optional)
- Housing Preferences
- Fill out Life Style Questionnaire
- Opt in to Roommate Selection (Optional)
Please watch the Phase II Video for more information.
Step 3: Search For & Select Roommate
Phase 3 will open up in the spring. We will notify you via your myHousing Portal and email when it opens. This phase is where you will search and request your roommate. Please watch Phase III video to see how roommate selection works.
Step 4: Select Your Room
In April you will receive a timeslot, assigned date and time, to select your room. This will be sent to you in your myHousing Portal and email. Please watch all of the Phase IV videos to see how room selection works.
Also after you select your room you will be able to move yourself around all summer. Please watch Phase IV Room Change video to understand how room change works.
Step 5: Complete Annual Housing Orientation
Before you move in you will need to complete an on-line Housing Orientation. This must be completed before arriving on campus so that Residence Life staff can issue your room key. The orientation will become available in July and you will receive a message in your myHousing Portal and an email with information on how to complete the orientation.
Step 6: Schedule Move In Appointment
We are very excited to welcome you to Residence Life at Texas A&M University! All on-campus residents must schedule a move-in appointment. This enables us to make sure everything is ready for your arrival. Choose a day and time for your arrival within myHousing Portal after you complete the Annual Housing Orientation.
To help make your transition to college life as smooth as possible, move-in information will be posted on our website throughout the summer. Don’t forget to check your Texas A&M email frequently so you don’t miss important emails – such as more detailed instructions for move-in based on your apartment or hall.
Information about early move-in, early-arrival requests, what to bring, what not to bring, and important dates for residence halls and White Creek Apartments can be found on our Move-In Information page. Of course, you can always contact the appropriate office if you have additional questions or concerns before you arrive. We will see you in Aggieland!
Step 1: Apply for Housing
On-campus housing has something to offer everyone. To begin, log into myHousing Portal using your NetID and password, click on Housing Application, follow the step-by-step on-screen instructions, and select Yes to Corps of Cadets when prompted.
Step 2: Receive Assignment
All cadets (except for those identified by the Commandant) are required to live on campus in Corps Housing while an active member of the Corps of Cadets. Only the Commandant can approve additional exceptions such as outfits V-1 & Delta Company (and only under special circumstances such as married cadets and previous military service cadets.).
Any changes to your assignment will be coordinated between the Corps Area Housing Office and the Corps Operations & Training office. Due to the changing nature of units and outfits, housing assignments are subject to change.
Room assignments are based on:
-
- Gender Integrity – Cadets share a room only with another cadet of the same gender.
- Unit, Staff and Class Integrity – A cadet shares a room with a cadet in the same unit and class. Crowded conditions or special circumstances may dictate that cadets of different years and units can room together.
Step 3: Complete Annual Housing Orientation
On-campus living has a lot of built-in resources and staff to support you during your time at Texas A&M. We are a diverse community with our own standards and rules.
For that reason, we ask all students living in our on-campus communities to complete the Annual Housing Orientation. To do this, after you are assigned a room, the Annual Housing Orientation menu item will appear in myHousing Portal.
You will need to have completed this orientation in order to receive your key upon check-in. Check your Texas A&M email over the summer for specific instructions.
Step 4: Move-In
We are very excited to welcome you to Residence Life and the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University!
To help make your transition to college life as smooth as possible, move-in information will be posted on our website throughout the summer. Don’t forget to check your Texas A&M email frequently so you don’t miss important emails – such as more detailed instructions for move-in based on your Corps Unit and the Freshmen Orientation Week (FOW) experience.
Information about early move-in, early-arrival requests, what to bring, what not to bring, and important dates for Corps of Cadets can be found on our Move-In Information page. Of course, you can always contact the Corps Area Housing Office if you have additional questions or concerns before you arrive. We will see you in Aggieland!
