In accordance with guidance provided by the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office and Texas A&M University Environmental Health & Safety, the Corps Area Housing Office has established the following as it relates to general, holiday and special event decorations:

Texas A&M University owned and leased housing (apartments, residence halls, and houses), are smoking and tobacco-use free with the exception of smokeless tobacco, snuff and chewing tobacco when disposed of in an appropriate manner.
Smoking and tobacco products include, but are not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, water pipes (hookah), bidis, kreteks, smokeless tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco, and electronic cigarettes (includes vapors, personal vaporizers, tanks and other). While smoking outside near entryways, please be considerate of others. You may be asked to move if your smoke begins to travel indoors.

The Department of Residence Life will not tolerate verbal or written abuse, threats, intimidation, violence or other forms of harassment against any member of the university community. If you experience harassment, contact your area office, the Department of Residence Life at 979.862.3158. or the Offices of the Dean of Student Life at 979.845.3111. Conduct that is disorderly, lewd, indecent, or a disturbance of the peace on university premises or at university-sponsored activities will be confronted by the Department of Residence Life staff and may be addressed through the student conduct process.

Tampering, damaging, or inhibiting the use of emergency/safety equipment, including exterior apartment or residence hall doors, in any apartment building or residence hall is prohibited. Residents may not use emergency equipment for any purpose other than emergency use. This regulation includes, but is not limited to, fire extinguishers, heat and smoke detectors, exit signs, fire alarm pull stations, automatic door closures, and locked exterior doors. It is a violation to cover, hang items from, throw things at or tamper with sprinkler heads. Residents involved in such activities will be subject to disciplinary action and may be removed from University housing.
For Residence Halls & University Apartments
Abusers of computing privileges may lose their computer access or be subject to more serious penalties, including disciplinary action by the university and referral to law enforcement agencies. The Residence Halls and University Apartments have wireless access installed. In addition to being a violation of university policy, the use of wireless routers severely negatively impacts the function of the Texas A&M wireless system. Do not install and use your own wireless router. Students should also be aware of the potential liabilities in using Texas A&M computing resources for file-sharing activities. Utilizing programs to swap songs, movies or other forms of media may place one at risk of violating both copyright protection laws and Texas A&M University Student Rules.

As permitted by The Standard, cadet residents may have one microwave and one refrigerator in the room provided they meet all of the following conditions below. A combination refrigerator/freezer/microwave appliance will be counted as one microwave and one refrigerator.

For Corps Halls Only
All exterior residence hall doors are locked 24 hours a day with limited exceptions as determined by the Office of the Commandant. Propping of exterior doors and/or tampering with locks is considered a serious security violation. Residents involved in such activities may be removed from University housing.
