Spence Hall is named after David W. Spence and was constructed in 1939. Dr. Spence was an assistant professor of Civil Engineering and Physics. He was among a small group of individuals responsible in its earlier years for the development of the Texas A&M School of Engineering and served as its Dean from 1912 to 1917.
