FIRST-GEN LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITY
The First-Gen Living Learning Community was created with first-generation students in mind. Students who are recipients of the Regents’ Scholarship are highly encouraged to apply. We want to provide living space on campus for first-generation college students to build community among other first-generation students, provide leadership opportunities, and connect with the first-generation leadership team on campus.
The Routh First-Generation Center in the Office for Student Success manages the Regents’ Scholars Program, the 2nd largest scholarship program at Texas A&M University. In alignment with the Scholarships and Financial Aid Office, first-generation students are students whose parent(s) have not earned a bachelor’s degree. However, we understand that this definition may not fully account for the rich variety of first-generation college students (e.g., parent(s) may have completed a degree non-traditionally later in life or obtained a degree internationally), and we welcome students who believe will benefit from our program and services.
In partnership with Residence Life, the Routh First-Generation Center in the Office for Student Success oversees the First-Gen Living Learning Community. Established in the Fall of 2019, the Routh First-Generation Center was created with YOU in mind and helped advance first-generation student success at Texas A&M University. The Routh First-Generation team are first-generation alumni. We understand navigating the college environment can be overwhelming. Do not worry, we are here to help you transition to college and help you succeed throughout your undergraduate career at Texas A&M University.
