Rudder hall is an all-female modular style residence hall located on the southside of campus. Rudder has 118 rooms on four floors, with private bathrooms and individually controlled AC. Other features of this hall include study rooms, water bottle refilling stations, and a TV lounge. In addition to this, being on the southside of campus places residents near the southside parking garage, the Commons dining hall, and the new Southside Recreation Center.

Constructed in 1989, Rudder Hall is named after Margaret Rudder, who was the widow of former Texas A&M President, Major General James Earl Rudder. As the First Lady of Texas A&M, she was active in both university and community affairs, continuing her involvement after her husband’s death and up until her own in 2004.

2020: Renovate lounge to include community kitchen.New flooring and paint upgrade in laundry room. All student room doors replaced.
2017: Complete heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system replacement, suspended ceiling replacement. LED lighting upgrade, ADA accessible showers renovated.
2015: Installation of new solid surface sinks and countertops in student rooms.
