Spence Hall (Dorm 1)
Spence Hall, a Corps Hall located on the Southside, offers double rooms with community-style bathrooms and is coed by room; it is named in honor of David W. Spence, who became an assistant professor of Civil Engineering in 1892 and later served as Dean of the School of Engineering from 1913 to 1917.

Hall Namesake
Spence Hall is named after David W. Spence and was constructed in 1939. Dr. Spence was an assistant professor of Civil Engineering and Physics. He was among a small group of individuals responsible in its earlier years for the development of the Texas A&M School of Engineering and served as its Dean from 1912 to 1917.
