Lechner serves as an honors hall and is equipped with 101 rooms on four floors, as well as private bathrooms. Lechner Hall is named after Walter W. Lechner ’16 and was constructed in 1989. Mr. Lechner, formerly of Dallas, Texas, died in 1979. Mr. Lechner was one of the principal discoverers of the north portion of the East Texas oil field during the 1920’s. The hall that bears his name houses participants in the University’s Honors Program.

2021: Complete heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system replacement, LED lighting upgrade; Renovation of 1st flr lounge to include a community kitchen; Renovated ADA rooms to include roll-in shower, and other ADA compliant upgrades.
2016: LED lighting upgrade in hallways and commons areas, new laundry room flooring.
2014: New solid surface sinks and countertops and new vinyl wood plank flooring in student rooms. Replaced carpet in hallways and common areas.
2024: Fresh coats of paint in all floors.
