Hughes Hall

Hughes Hall is a balcony-style residence hall located on the Northside of campus and offers single rooms with suite-style bathrooms, assigned as single gender by suite. The hall features 92 rooms across four floors and includes amenities such as study rooms, a TV lounge, and water bottle refilling stations. Its Northside location places residents near the Northside Garage, Hullabaloo Starbucks, and Sbisa Dining Hall. Recent renovations include the installation of brand-new solid surface sinks and countertops, providing an updated and comfortable living environment.

Hall Namesake

Hughes Hall is named after Lt. Lloyd H. Hughes ’43 and was constructed in 1964. He piloted his heavy bomber to a precision minimum-altitude bombing of Axis refineries in Ploesti, Romania on August 1, 1943, even though gasoline was streaming from his aircraft. After flying through flames, he attempted a landing with one wing aflame. The aircraft crashed and was consumed. Hughes Hall is one of the halls that makes up the ‘FHK’ Complex.
