Dunn hall is a Commons style residence hall conveniently located on the southside of campus with 235 rooms on four floors. Dunn is one of four residence halls connected to The Commons, a large, modern complex with numerous study/meeting spaces including the Community Learning Center, Game room, 24-hour Information Desk, convenience stores, mailroom, water bottle refilling stations, and large food court managed by Dining Services downstairs. Double rooms are connected by a bathroom. This residence hall places residents near the new Southside Recreation Center.

Dunn Hall is named after J. Harold Dunn ’25 and was constructed in 1972. During his collegiate years, he served as a student leader undertaking a tough curriculum and working day-and-night. After leaving Texas A&M, Mr. Dunn went into the business industry where he made his way to the top. He transformed Shamrock Oil & Gas Company from a company running in the red to a distinguished corporation known as the Diamond-Shamrock Corporation.

2020: Complete heating, ventilation and air conditioning system replacement, LED lighting upgrade and addition of two community kitchens.

Renovated interior finishes in student rooms, bathrooms, common areas, study rooms & stairwells on the 3rd & 4th floors. Added 3rd-floor community kitchen/study room. Renovated study rooms and RA rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors.

2023: New finishes in the restroom, fresh paint throughout, and new closet in the rooms. 

2024: New beds on all floors.
