General Application Information
Priority Permanent Housing
Students who complete their application on or before Dec. 1, and are eligible for Permanent housing, will have Priority housing. Priority housing students will have the option to select their own room during the Timeslots Process in May. As a reminder, students who are selected for a Living Learning Community will not pick their own room (they will be assigned to a space associated with that LLC).
Traditional Permanent Housing
Students that complete their application from Dec. 2 – Jan. 26 will still have guaranteed housing, but they will be assigned based on roommate pairings and preferences listed on the housing application. Room selection happens on a first come, first serve basis so the earlier you complete your housing application, the better your chances are of getting the hall or room you’re interested in.
Temporary Housing
Initially given to all non-freshmen who apply for housing or given to students who complete their housing application after permanent space is no longer available. Temporary rooms may be converted T.V. lounges or study carrels that we have turned into bedroom spaces. These spaces are fully furnished and enjoy the same building features as other residents within the hall but are not meant to be lived in long-term. We have Temporary spaces located in Hullabaloo Hall, all four of the Commons Halls, and in most of our Modular-style halls. Some of these Temporary spaces are offered at a discounted rate (due to the bathroom configuration). Students in Temporary Housing Status will be moved to Permanent Housing Status as we progress through the housing assignments process and space becomes available. The majority of moves typically happen after the May 1 university acceptance deadline and continue through the summer.
Waitlist
When housing is full and we are over-capacity, you can still apply for the waitlist. You can pay the $75 application fee, sign a contract with us and reserve a place on a wait list to be notified if/when spaces open up on-campus for you to be assigned to. This option will ensure you are notified of availability in the order in which students have signed up for the wait list. It does NOT guarantee that you will receive a spot on campus.
Notify List
You can select to be on the Notify List. This means you are interested in on-campus living, but do not wish to pay the $75 application fee to reserve a space in line for the next available spaces. Those on the Notify List will only be contacted if there is still availability AFTER all Permanent, Temporary and Wait List students have been accommodated.
Application Fee
- A one-time, non-refundable online payment in the amount of $75 is required when you complete your first application to live on campus. The application fee is paid by credit/debit card or electronic check when you sign the contract.
Housing Charges
- Residence Halls & White Creek Apartments: Payment for housing will be added to the tuition and fees on your Howdy Portal student account. You can contact Student Business Services if you have questions about how to pay.
- Gardens Apartments: Rent and charges will be paid by credit/debit card via myHousing Portal.
