Appelt Hall is a Modular style residence hall conveniently located on the southside of campus with 150 rooms on four floors. Appelt is near the southside parking garage, the Commons dining hall, as well as the new Southside Rec Center. Residents in this hall (double rooms) will have access to private bathrooms and individually controlled AC units. This residence hall is also equipped with a community kitchen, study rooms, water bottle refilling stations, and a TV lounge. Recent renovations include new HVAC system replacement.

Appelt Hall is named after Leslie L. Appelt '41 and was constructed in 1989. Mr. Appelt served in WWII as an operations officer, and then became a real estate developer in Houston, Texas.

He is a trustee of Texas A&M's Development Foundation. In addition, 'Les' served as president of the Former Student Association in 1971 and on the board of trustees from 72-89. Philanthropy has been a main objective of Mr. Appelt, as he has given $3 million to the University, with a stipulation in his will for an additional $5 million.

2020: Complete heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system replacement and LED lighting upgrade.
2014: Added community kitchen, New vanities and sinks in student rooms, New vinyl wood plank flooring in student rooms, New carpet in commons areas/hallways.”
