CEHD TRAILBLAZERS
About the Community
CEHD Trailblazers (1st Gen. Aggies) living learning community is for first generation freshman students in the College of Education & Human Development who want to experience a scholarly community, get to know their fellow first generation Aggies, engage with faculty, staff, and mentors in the College, and develop leadership skills.
Students in the program will learn skills to make the academic transition from high school to college, get academic and career mentoring, learn about what it means to be an Aggie, and attend social activities like Midnight Yell. Students will also get the opportunity to participate in volunteer and leadership development experiences.
Eligibility Requirements
To be a participant in the CEHD Trailblazers (1st Generation Aggies) LLC, participants must:
- be a freshman enrolled in the College of Education and Human Development and
- be a First Generation College Student. ‘First generation’ is defined as a student whose parents did not complete a four-year degree.
Program Components
- FYEX/UGST
LLC participants will be able to sign up for study groups for shared courses throughout the academic year.
Throughout the academic year, participants will be provided with the opportunity to attend various social programs with the floor, LLC, and classmates. These may include: intramural sports, volunteer opportunities, Midnight Yell.
Students will also attend outings with faculty/staff that will encourage bonding and enhance group dynamics.
Buildings
Roommates
During a specific period of time, students selected for this program will be able to choose a roommate(s) from other students selected for the same Living Learning Community. Students may post profiles within myHousing Portal and view responses by other students to their roommate questionnaire (i.e., sleep schedule, noise, cleanliness, etc.). Following this specific time period, students will be assigned a room with their requested roommate within the block of rooms designated for the Living Learning Community.
