About the Community

Terry Scholars recipients with a portrait of the donorsAll selected Freshman Terry Scholars will live together as part of the Terry Living Learning Community. The freshmen will be matched with an upper-class scholarship recipient who volunteer time to assist scholarship freshmen “learn the ropes” of college life through the Terry Scholars Organization.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the Terry Scholars Living Learning Community, students must:

  1. Be selected by the Terry Foundation as a Terry Scholar.

Program Components

Each freshman will be matched to an upperclassman mentor. The freshmen will attend events offered through the Terry Scholars Organization with executive board members and their mentors. Both mentors and the executive board members are there to help the Terry Scholar freshmen to adjust to college and build the Terry community.

Terry Scholars must attend an annual orientation, banquet, and spring picnic to maintain their Terry Scholar status.

Fall Semester: FYEX 101



During a specific period of time, students selected for this program will be able to choose a roommate(s) from other students selected for the same Living Learning Community. Students may post profiles within myHousing Portal and view responses by other students to their roommate questionnaire (i.e., sleep schedule, noise, cleanliness, etc.).  Following this specific time period, students will be assigned a room with their requested roommate within the block of rooms designated for the Living Learning Community.
