About the Community

The Geosciences Living Learning Community (GEO LLC) welcomes freshman undergraduate students, with a preference given to College of Geoscience majors, who wish to excel academically by sharing knowledge and building a strong support network, all while participating in fun and engaging activities and events. The purpose of the Geo LLC is to facilitate the academic pursuits and social success of students participating in the Geo LLC by creating a tight-knit community.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the Geosciences Living Learning Community, students must:

  1. Be a freshman undergraduate student
  2. Preference given to majors in the College of Geosciences (ENGS, ENST, GEOG, GEOL, GEOP, GIST, METL, METR, OCNG)
  3. Be in good academic and conduct standing
  4. Apply for on campus housing and preference the Geo LLC

Program Components

LLC participants will be able to sign up for study groups for shared courses throughout the academic year.
Participants will be able to attend exclusive presentations by groups such as TAMU Career Services and Geosciences student organizations.
Students will be able to participate in a variety of outdoor activities, which may include a ropes course, community building activities, day hiking trips, and a weekend camping trip.
Get invited to special dinners with professors, alumni and student organizations within the College of Geosciences.
Howdy Week Geosciences Academic Preparation program that all LLC members will participate in as well as other college events.
There will be an opportunity to participate in additional social activities such as intramural sports, volunteering, and a bowling night.



During a specific period of time, students selected for this program will be able to choose a roommate(s) from other students selected for the same Living Learning Community. Students may post profiles within myHousing Portal and view responses by other students to their roommate questionnaire (i.e., sleep schedule, noise, cleanliness, etc.).  Following this specific time period, students will be assigned a room with their requested roommate within the block of rooms designated for the Living Learning Community.
