Frequently Asked Questions

5. How do I choose what hall I want or who I want to live with?

When applying for housing online, you will choose hall and roommate preferences at the time the application is made.

When applying for housing by using the paper application, hall and roommate requests are made on the space offer form and must be completed and returned along with the housing contract before the deadline. Space offers are mailed after you have applied.

Find a Roommate:

Find a Roommate is a program to assist you in finding a roommate to share your home away from home in a Residence Hall at Texas A&M University. The program allows you to add general information about yourself to a database of similar information submitted by other Aggie who either will be living in a residence hall or are currently living in a residence hall, and who are looking for a roommate. If you choose to participate, and it is completely up to you to do so, after you enter you information you may search the database for individuals with compatible interests. The information submitted by Aggies choosing to the database will include contact information to facilitate further follow-up/conversation with an individual you may find interesting as a potential roommate.

How does it work: A person who has applied for housing may log on to Housing on Web (HoW) at http://reslife.tamu.edu/how/ and select Find a Roommate.  You can choose to answer some questions such as study habits, sleeping habits, socializing habits, smoking habits, etc. The program will take the responses to the questions along with name, major, classification, hall preferences, telephone, and email address to form a record with can then be used and posted on the site.  You have the option to choose which information form your record is displayed to other users of the program.  Any student who applied for housing or is currently in the housing system may review all the posting and choose any they wish to contact that match the presences they are looking for. If you select a roommate you would then need to go online and update your housing record by adding your roommate information on your housing application. You may remove yourself at anytime form the database by signing on to Find a Roommate then selecting the option to delete your information. All information in the Find Roommate database is deleted on August 31st each year.
