PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE FILLING IN THE APPLICATION FORM

This is general information regarding application for an apartment at the University Apartments on the campus of Texas A&M University. You may update your application information at any time by calling the University Apartments Office at 979.845.2261. Please read the following information before submitting an application for an apartment.

APPLICATION FEE: A $25.00 USD non-refundable application fee must accompany all applications. ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURES: The application fee must accompany the completed application or be received at the University Apartments Office within 7 calendar days of the date of application or the application will be made inactive. After the application fee is received, the application will be processed as follows:

  1. The application form is date stamped upon receipt and filed in the University Apartments Office as of that date. Because apartments are rented utilizing month to month leasing, processing of applications for each month is done the month prior to the requested move-in date (no earlier than 30 days in advance).
  2. When your application is reached in processing, if an apartment unit is available that matches your requests, you will be contacted with an apartment assignment offer:
    • If you accept the assignment, you must send in your $300.00 USD security deposit within 7 calendar days to hold your apartment assignment.
    • If you refuse the apartment assignment, your application form will be moved to another requested move-in month you desire and will be prioritized by application date. If you do not request your application form to be moved, it will be made inactive.
  3. If your requested move-in date is coming up, or has just passed by, and you have not been contacted by the staff at the University Apartments office:
    • You must contact the office at 979.845.2261 within 30 days and ask that your application be moved to a later desired month
    • If you do not contact the University Apartments Office by the last working day of the month in which you requested an apartment your application will be made inactive.

CANCELLATION OF APARTMENT PRIOR TO OCCUPANCY: After you have received an apartment assignment and your security deposit has been received by TAMU, if the apartment assignment is cancelled no later than 21 calendar days prior to the first scheduled move-in date the deposit will be returned to you. Otherwise, the security deposit will be forfeited and kept by TAMU.

MISCELLANEOUS TERMS: Student residents are required to sign a University Apartments Rental Contract and complete a required apartment orientation prior to occupancy. The rental term for the apartment is one month until terminated as outlined in the Rental Contract. After occupancy, a 30 calendar day notice of intent to vacate must be filed by the student resident with the University Apartments Office or charges and penalties may be assessed including forfeiture of the entire security deposit.

  • Rent is due and payable in advance and begins on the date the student resident occupies the apartment. Rent will be prorated for the first month if occupancy takes place after the first day of the month. Rent is paid monthly and must be paid within the first 7 calendar days of each month. Texas A&M University cannot extend credit to anyone.
  • Natural gas, water, sewer, garbage collection, basic cable service and local telephone service are included in rent payments.
