A Substance Free Floor is an intentionally formed community that promotes the choice to live in a substance free environment. The expectations of the members of the Substance Free Floor are outlined below, and are designed to encourage individual and shared investment in the community.
- I will support the community development of the Substance Free Floor by not possessing, using or being under the influence of any alcohol, tobacco product, or illegal drug within the living environment.
- I will support the community development of the Substance Free Floor by not participating in any behavior that disrupts the community and/or life of the residents as a result of substance use.
- I will support the community development of the Substance Free Floor by sharing the responsibility of confronting and/or reporting any inappropriate behavior within the community as it relates to substance use.
- I will support the community development of the Substance Free Floor by participating in healthy communication with community members and staff members, and by promoting a spirit of civility through my interactions with others.
- I will support the community development of the Substance Free Floor by insuring that my guests adhere to all of the above expectations while visiting the floor.
I recognize the value of these expectations and will commit to abiding by them. I recognize that failure to do so will result in a referral to the appropriate University Official(s) for a Student Conduct or Administrative Hearing, and possible relocation to a non-substance free living environment on campus. I realize that if, a hearing determines that I should be relocated, and space is not available elsewhere on campus, my housing contract may be cancelled and the appropriate contractual cancellation fees and forfeitures will be applied. I assume full responsibility for my actions and the actions of my guests, and will serve as a contributing member of the Substance Free Floor community.
