The Engineering Living Learning Community is a Texas A&M University residence hall clustering program for first year engineering students with the goal of creating a community of scholars to help in the transition to college and the commitment to academic excellence. Additional goals of the program are:
- to increase the retention rates of freshman in engineering;
- to provide services that enhance and add to the value of student studying engineering;
- to provide an environment that is conducive to building a strong, cohesive peer support system that will serve participants throughout their academic and professional careers.
Participants are provided with the opportunity to attend monthly seminars that address issues such as social needs, globalization and personal development and learning. Upper division engineering students serve as mentors, tutors and facilitators for the Engineering students. First year Regents Scholars in the College of Engineering are required to participate in the Engineering Living Learning Community.
