Aggie Access Learning Communities offer 300 selected freshmen an interdisciplinary learning community experience combining registration in core curriculum classes of 25-30 students, individualized academic advising, learning community activities, study groups, peer mentoring, and community service opportunities. Students admitted to Aggie Access Learning Communities may choose the Aggie Access Living Learning Option to live with other Access students in
Schuhmacher Hall,
a coeducational
balcony style
residence hall. A second Access residential cluster may be chosen in
Hobby Hall,
a coeducational
modular style
hall. The Living-Learning Community within the larger Access Learning Communities reinforces the peer support system and provides additional programming to those participants. Conveniently located near "Access Central", the learning communities space in
Hotard Hall.
Aggie Access Learning Community students, selected in late spring from the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Geosciences, and General Academic Programs participate in Aggie Access from admission through the end of the freshman year; Aggie Access students receive registration assistance and academic advising from Aggie Access Learning Community advisors in General Academic Programs in addition to academic advising in the major field of study. Regents Scholars in these colleges participate in Aggie Access Learning Communities. Students enrolled in the Colleges of Education and Human Development, Engineering, Architecture, and Veterinary Medicine may not participate in Aggie Access Learning Communities.
