History - Walton Hall

Walton Hall is named after Dr. Thomas Otto Walton and was constructed in 1931. Dr. Walton was president of Texas A&M College for 17 years, the longest period in which the college has been headed by one person in its history. During Dr. Walton's tenure as president of Texas A&M University, the college grew from an enrollment of 2084 to over 6500. Also during his administration, the A&M share in the University endowment was established and the college was recognized by the Association of American Universities.
