Rudder Hall is named after Margaret Rudder and was constructed in 1989. Ms. Rudder was the widow of former Texas A&M University President Major General James Earl Rudder. As the university's first lady during her husband's 1959-1970 presidency, she was active in both university and community affairs even after her husband's death. Mrs. Rudder passed away in 2004.
