History - McInnis Hall

McInnis Hall is named after Louis Lowry McInnis and was constructed in 1964. Mr. McInnis graduated from Ole Miss in 1871 and came to Texas A&M University in 1877 as an adjunct professor of ancient languages. Mr. McInnis was Chair of the Faculty from 1877 to 1890. Texas A&M had no President for seven years during this period. In effect, Mr. McInnis was Acting President while he was Chair of the Faculty. During the McInnis administration, an enlarged building program was carried on and courses of study were enlarged and expanded.
