Attention Commons, Ramp, Spence Hall Residents!
(Aston, Dunn, Krueger, Mosher, Hart, Walton,
and Spence) |
The beds in the
Commons
(Aston,
Dunn,
Krueger, and
Mosher),
Ramp
(Hart
and
Walton)
and
Spence
halls are loftable, therefore it is not necessary to build or rent a loft. The beds are initially set up as lofts.
You can download instructions for assembling and adjusting your loft.
Note: Hart, Walton, and Spence - beds will be loftable beginning Fall 2009. |
|
For better space utilization, some students like to use lofts for their beds. Lofts are permitted in all halls.
- The beds in the
Commons,
Ramp,
Kiest,
and
Spence
halls are loftable, therefore, it is not necessary to build or rent a loft.
- Lofts can be rented or designed and constructed by the resident(s), except in modular halls.
- Lofts will be allowed in modular halls only if renting from Lofty Ideas (see Loft Rental Information). Homemade lofts are not permitted in modular halls.
Prior approval is required when a loft is being built. A Loft Request Form is submitted to the Hall Director of your hall AFTER you and your roommate check-in to the hall. For more information or a copy of the Loft Request Form, see Loft Approval Information. If the loft is permitted, the bed already in the room must remain in the room.
Attention Balcony Hall Residents
(FHK Complex, McInnis, Schuhmacher) |
While loft beds are allowed, they are not practical in
Balcony halls
(FHK Complex,
McInnis, and
Schuhmacher). They do not fit the room space well and they block the built-in wall cabinets (which should never be removed from the walls). Although they are allowed, they are not practical and in the long run do not save significant floor space.
Note: Lofty Ideas, Inc. does not rent lofts to students living in balcony style halls. |
| Note: |
Lofts are allowed in modular style residence hall rooms only if renting from Lofty Ideas. Pre-constructed lofts are provided in modular style apartments.
No prior approval is required in any hall if the loft is rented from Lofty Ideas. (see Loft Rental Information). |
