About The E"RAS"Ers:
Qualifications:
E”RAS” E members must be a Resident Advisor with the Texas A&M University Department of Residence Life, who are nominated by Residence Life administrators and staff. Members must also have at least a GPR of 2.5.
Commitment:
E”RAS”E members must agree to commit to conducting/organizing a minimum of five diversity workshops, forums, seminars, etc per semester. All members must attend the semester overnight retreat, monthly meetings and other opportunities for development.
Responsibilities:
E”RAS”E members compliment the diversity efforts of the Department of Residence Life and the Department of Multicultural Services at Texas A&M University. E"RAS"Ers' activities include conducting/organizing workshops; providing basic information about diversity issues; answering questions concerning diversity issues; acting as a general referral for other campus support services such as the Career Center, Center for Adult Literacy and Learning, Department of Multicultural Services, University Police, Race and Ethnic Institute, International Center, Student Health Services, Student Government Association, etc.
E”RAS”E members are expected to promote the program to the residence hall community.
A typical semester will consist of at least five diversity projects, 3 active and 2 passive. Examples of active projects are presentations, panels, movie viewing and discussion, role play, etc. Passive projects may include posting posters, distributing information, etc. Also, members must attend monthly meetings conducted by James Dabney, the Residence Life Liaison in Multicultural Services and other possibilities for personal and professional development that are identified by James Dabney.
