To provide insect control for the residence halls, the Department of Residence Life has made arrangements to use the services of the Physical Plant Pest Control Division. Trained and certified pest control personnel will treat all residence hall rooms during the winter break and summer break to minimize any inconvenience to residents. However, there are times when pest control personnel must treat a building when it is occupied. When this happens, treatment notices will be posted on entry doors to the residence hall being treated at least 48 hours in advance of a schedule treatment. Included with the notice will be:
- Instructions for residents to follow to insure a more thorough and effective treatment.
- A consumer information sheet, with basic information about pest control.
In addition to the regular treatments provided by pest control personnel, you can help reduce the number of pests in your room by emptying garbage cans nightly, keeping food sealed in plastic containers, and maintaining an overall clean living environment.
If you notice any type of pests in your room, do not attempt to treat the problem by yourself. Pest control is a service included in your residence hall room payments. Please contact your Resident Advisor or Hall Director or submit an online work order to obtain pest control service.
